Faith and community

Faith actors and community partnerships

We engage churches, other faith actors and community structures as partners in mobilization, social support, positive caregiving, household resilience and locally led development.

Our faith

How faith shapes
our service

Our Christian faith shapes who we are and how we serve. It calls us to uphold the dignity of every person, act with integrity and compassion, and serve people across backgrounds and beliefs. We work alongside communities and partners to strengthen families and create lasting change.

Working together

Churches, faith leaders
and community partners

The Church Engagement programme brings neighbouring churches together to act on priorities identified by their communities. Each network has a committee with nine representatives from different denominations. Leaders train in community development through the Transformation Tree curriculum, then work with congregations and local partners to put that learning into practice.

Church engagement

Church networks coordinate activities that individual congregations could find difficult to sustain alone. In FY2025/26, 184 churches in Kajiado implemented community projects responding to needs such as drought, flooding, livelihoods and household welfare. Networks also register as community-based organisations so they can manage resources and work with government services.

Families and community services

Church leaders and trained volunteers bring parents together to discuss relationships, positive parenting and children’s safety. They also support savings groups and household sanitation. Outreach groups maintain links with Ministry of Health structures for referrals and community health work. Source: Church Engagement programme reporting, FY2025/26.
